Kronotsky Reserve is one of the oldest in Russia. It
was founded in November, 1st 1934. Its territory is 1 147 619
ha. It saves the unique natural complexes and biological diversity of eastern
Kamchatka.
On the territory of Kronotsky Reserve there are many
unique natural objects to see: Geyser valley, Death valley, Uzon volcano
caldera, Silver fir coppice, Kronotsk lake, Tchazhminskii hot spring, Tyushevskii
hot spring, Semyachikskii hot spring, Semyachikskii firth, Shchapinsk fir wood.
54 species of mammals live in the Reserve. Only here
you can find wild North deer. In the
borders of the natural biosphere reserve there are 244 species and sub-species of
birds, including golden eagle, gyrfalcon, duck hawk, Aleutian tern.
There are 25 volcanoes including 8 active ones on the
territory of Kornotsky Reserve.
Starting from 1985 Kornotsky Reserve was included into the international biosphere reserves and
from 1996 the unique natural territory was included into the list of
UNESCO world heritage sites.
Kronotsky Reserve gives you an opportunity to spend as much time as you wish (not less than a month) at the Reserve being a volunteer. The registration for the next year starts from January 2015. If you are interested we can help you to apply - please email us (details in the contact info).
