If you are in Russia and like mountain skiing, adore the beauties of the mountain landscapes - you are lucky because there are many mountain chains situated in our country, more than in any country of the world.  Here’s a variety of landscapes you probably shall find nowhere else – low bald mountains of the North and high peaks of Caucasus.  The main mountain skiing locations are Ural and Caucasus. Here we’ll tell you more about Caucasus most popular mountain resorts: Dombay, Krasmaya Polyana and the vicinity of the Elbrus Mountain.

Dombay village is situated in Karachaevo-Cherkessiya in the mountain foot of the main Caucasus range and is part of the Teberdinsky state reserve. Inns, private houses and 4 star hotels are comfortably situated on one meadow close to the chairlifts, cafes and shops. Descent of the mountain Mussa-Achitara which is more than 3000 meters high, can be done differently – depending on the difficulty. There are 5 lines of cable-railways to lift the mountain. A new line was built by Doppelmayr recently in Dombay.

Krasnaya Polyana (Sochi)really deserves its second name “Russian Switzerland”. For the winter Olympic games of 2014 new comfortable cable-railways, hotels and inns were built. The service has become better. All these factors make Krasnaya Polyana one of the most popular mountain resorts in Russia. One of the biggest minuses which you may find in Sochi is changing weather with sudden warming which makes the snow wet and heavy and the skiing can be not very pleasant. All the other things make this place worth visiting.

One more popular Russian winter resort is the vicinity of the Elbrus. It is a real mountain skiing stronghold. Pure air, sun and sparkling snow, beckoning Elbrus – all these factors attract to this wonderful place lots of tourists not only from Russia but also from all over the world.

So if you like real snowy winter and adore winter sports - there is a good choice of resorts for you!
