Public transport in Moscow

Here's a hint for you if you are in /planning to visit Moscow, stay here for several days and use public transport actively (which is the easiest, most reliable and sometimes the fastest way of moving in the city).

First of all you should remember that on the ground transport it is allowed to enter in the first doors only (those which are near the driver).
In case you travel with a big bag or bicycle (or smth that can't go to the 1st door because of a validator) it is allowed to enter in the 2nd doors. For such cases there is a side validator to pay for a ride.
If you didn't buy ticket in advance you can buy it from a driver. One ride will cost 50 rubles. The good news is that you can use this ticket during 90 minutes for all ground public transport and for one underground ride.
If you would like to make the cost of one ride cheaper then you should buy a ticket in advance. You can calculate the number of rides needed and choose the best ticket for you.
Here you can read about the tickets availabe and make your choice:http://troika.mos.ru/…/passengers_can_now_add_unified_90_m…/

Why do I mention that public transport can be the fastest? It's easy. There are special lanes for buses/trolleys/trams where private cars are not allowed. So you can sit in a taxi and watch a bus passing by or you can go by bus and watch a taxi blocked in a traffic jam - it's up to you to choose.
Hope this info will help you to enjoy your stay in Moscow Смайлик «smile»
