Tourism in Russia is becoming more and more popular. You will be surprised to learn that the below photos were made in Russia which again proves that you may find all kinds of tourism in one country!

1. Does it look like Switzerland? But it is not. If you travel 6500 to the East from Switzerland you'll find Altai. It is a sparecely populated area with the only town Gorno-Altaisk (population 60 000). Other people live in villages. The nearest railway station is Biisk in 100 km distance.

2. This monastery is not in Tibet as it may seem. It is in Buryatia 100 km away from the Lake Baikal, not far from Ulan-Ude. It is the center of Russian buddhism. Ivolginsky temple was built in 1945.

3. Moneron island in Tartar bay can be easily taken for Australian coast. It looks like the island from the "Lost". You can find a lot of rare species of animals in the region, for example, Amur tigers.

 4. Istanbul or Vladivostok? Cable-stayed bridge was built in 2012 for the APEC summit. The idea of the bridge appeared more than 50 years ago but became possible only in 2012.

 5. Stone idols are typical of Indian or Pacific ocean islands but not of the plato in the depth of the taiga. Gigantic stone pillars in Komi Republic are geological monuments and are in the list of 7 world wonders. Millions of years ago there were high mountains in this place but wind and downfall  destroyed them. The stones are situated far from the living places and only trained tourists can walk here or go by helicopter. And of course this place is full of legends among the Mansi people.

6. Avachinsk bay in Kamchatka is the second biggest bay in the world. Its length is 24 kilometres. It has room for all the world fleet. You can see 3 volcanoes from it: Vilyuchinsk, Avachinsk and Koryak.

7. Satint-Petersburg is sometimes called the Northern Venice. It is one of the biggest ports of Russia. Citizens and tourists love the city for its beauties: white nights, architecture and atmosphere.

8. Lena pillars - world heritage of UNESCO. Red pillars of the sandstone covered by the forests  are reflected in the Lena river. You can reach them going by boat from Yakutsk and enjoy the nature from the viewing point.

9. Kaliningrad - former Kenigsberg - after World War II became a part of Soviet Union thus mostly European culture remained here.

10. Kronotskii volcano is situated in Kamchatka reserve it reminds of the Fuji mountain. Kronotskii reserve is one of the oldest in Russia. Many geysers and hot springs are situated here. Geyser valley is in the list of the 7 world wonders.
